Ancient Science in an Indian entrance
An Indian entrance always consists of a bag tied in red or yellow color. Let us have a detailed glimpse of this bag and the scientific reason behind this practice.
This red and yellow color bag found in an Indian entrance is said to have much significance by astrologers like it improves health, makes you wealthy, makes you successful, gives you happiness, and lots more. But how can a small bag provide you with all such benefits???
The reason for this is a pinch of science and a pinch of Psychology. The materials to be added to this bag have a lot of medicinal properties. Normally the materials which are added to this bag are lemon, turmeric, kumkum, salt, potash alum, chili, ash, rose water, east Indian grass, and some more.
First, let us see why the cloth is colored red or yellow. Presently, we are using synthetically yellow and red-stained clothes. But our ancestors made yellow and red cloth by applying turmeric and kumkum onto it. And we all know about the medicinal properties of turmeric, it resists bacterial, viral, and fungal entry. Kumkum is presently made with hazardous chemicals, but naturally, kumkum is prepared by mixing limestone with turmeric. And this natural kumkum also plays a major role in microbial resistance.
Next lemon along with chili is added to the bag. Lemon along with chili exhibits a greater insecticidal property which protects the house from insects.
Neem is a well-known ingredient that is added to the bag. It has antimicrobial properties and prevents their entry.
Potash alum is commonly found in stone. It is not just a normal stone but has many antimicrobial properties. It is said that this potash alum also purifies the air.
Now comes, the ash... Not the normal one, but the ash collected from Homa is called a fire altar, which is obtained by burning many medicinal herbs as a form of ritual. Those ashes rich in medicinal values are collected in that bag and tied at the entrance of the house. Ash is said to remove the moisture and bad odor from the air.
Until now, the ingredients denoted have a greater impact on our health. But something which is the odd one out of this list is the east Indian grass called vetiver and rose water. These are products that produce good fragrances. This is said to improve happiness, reach success, etc., by astrologers.
How will this help in happiness and success??? The answer for this is by 'Aroma Therapy'. Aromatherapy is a pseudoscience based on the usage of aromatic materials, for improving psychological or physical well-being.
This aromatherapy helps in nourishing the physical and mental health of people. So this same technique was followed by our ancestors. They tied this fragrance-producing mix of East Indian grass - Vetiver and rose water in the entrance, which refreshes the minds of people entering or leaving the house. This helps them in building up their minds and mood that results in increased productivity at work, which in turn results in achieving happiness and success.
This small bag has so much hidden science in it, which makes our ancestors advise people to tie this in their entrance.
So, this is the science behind our ancestral practice.
