God Ganesha's Organ Transplantation
We know that Lord Ganesha is an elephant - headed. But scientifically is it possible to fix an elephant head to a human?? So we'll see in detail this concept in our blog.
ELEPHANT HEADED GANESHA:
We would have heard the story behind Lord Ganesha's elephant head. That is a fight aroused between Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesha which lead Lord Shiva to cut Lord Ganesha's head. In order to protect Ganesha's life Lord Vishnu places an Elephant head on him. And hence, Ganesha got an Elephant head.
ORGAN TRANSPLANTATION :
Scientifically a technique that approves this concept is Organ transplantation. Organ transplantation is a medical procedure in which an organ is removed from one body and placed in the body of a recipient, to replace a damaged or missing organ.
ORGAN TRANSPLANTATION TYPES :
Organ Transplantation is classified into various types:
1. Autotransplantation
2. Allotransplantation
3. Xenotransplantation
AUTOTRANSPLANTATION:
Autotransplantation is a procedure in which an organ is transplanted from one part of the body to another in the same person.
ALLOTRANSPLANTATION:
Allotransplantation is the transplantation of organs to a recipient from a genetically non-identical donor of the same species.
XENOTRANSPLANTATION:
Xenotransplantation is the transplantation of organs from one species to another.
XENOTRANSPLANTATION IN GANESHA:
The transplantation which took place in Lord Ganesha was Xenotransplantation. The animals commonly used in xenotransplantation are monkeys, chimpanzees, baboons, pigs, dogs, and some mammals. Xenotransplant has many side effects and some transplants are successful even. Xenotransplant majorly transplants organs like kidneys, heart, skin cells, etc. It is highly risky and leads to various problems.
TRIALS IN ANIMALS:
So scientists first made trials in animals by transplanting heads from one animal to another and made studies that produced successful results.
TRAILS IN HUMAN CADAVER :
And then they planned to perform experiments in the human model. In 2017 scientists performed a type of head transplantation called Cephalosomatic anastomosis which produced favorable results. This is a process in which the head is transplanted from one dead human to another and then the resulting reactions that occurred were studied and the experiment was successfully completed.
TRANSPLANT IN GANESHA:
But then the transplant which was performed to Lord Ganesha was so complex because it triggers many autoimmune disorders. And no researchers are performing such kinda research as it results in the rise of several ethical issues.
ETHICAL ISSUES :
But this process is still possible but presently, we are not achieving the desired result. But then, we couldn't continue such experiments because of the raising controversies and oppositions against this method as people say this is completely unethical and against nature. So further development of this experiment is in a questionable state. But then the basic stages of this experiment are still in process.
And yes!!! Xenotransplantation is the scientific reason behind Lord Ganesha's Elephant Head.
